Children's History Club
Saturday 21st September - Saturday 12th October 2019
Where: Abbey House
Members of our Learning team and volunteers will be focussing on different topics each time and bringing history to life for 9-12 year olds, with a talk and either a craft or interactive drama.
While there is no charge for this History Club, sessions must be booked in advance as places are limited to a maximum of 10 for each session.
The first History Club on Saturday 21 September will meet in the marquee in the abbey grounds, while the remaining sessions will be up at Abbey House.
Tudors Saturday 21st September
Play Tudor games, make Tudor word searches and join in with a quiz. Dress in costume and engage in a drama session. Decorate a biscuit with a Tudor pattern that you can take home and eat.
Silent Movies Saturday 28th September
Join in with drama games, learn new skills and create a Silent Movie with heroes, heroines, villains, cops and robbers, then perform your work.
Orchards and Apple pressing Saturday 5th October
Learn about different apples in the abbey’s orchard, pick and identify the apples, then enjoy washing, crushing and pressing the apples, ready to sample your freshly milled apple juice.
Pilgrimage Saturday 12th October
Learn a medieval pilgrimage song, make and decorate a pilgrim badge from air drying clay and a pilgrim licence to take home, then dress in costume, create your character and go on an interactive pilgrimage.
There’s even juice and biscuits at break time.
Two hours of fun and its all free.
